Wheatgrass juice is considered predigested food. It does not require enzymes for breaking down proteins. Wheatgrass juice contains both amino acids and glucose; therefore, it is readily assimilated in the body.
Blueberries are one of the few naturally blue-hued foods. They are packed with lots of antioxidants, which come from high levels of anthocyanins, and they are said to be a significant source of micronutrients. Maine is the blueberry production capital of North America and produces almost 100% of all berries harvested in the country.
Early colonists made gray paint out of blueberries by boiling them in milk. In addition, the blackberry leaf was also used as an early hair dye, having been recommended by Culpeper, the English herbalist, to be boiled in a lye solution in order to"maketh the hair black".
Blackberry tea was said to be a cure for dysentery during the Civil War. During outbreaks of dysentery, temporary truces were declared to allow both Union and Confederate soldiers to "go blackberrying" to forage for blackberries to ward off the disease.
In the United States, about 90% of all raspberries sold come from Washington, California, and Oregon. They come in a variety of colors: red, purple, gold, or black. Golden raspberries are said to be the sweetest of the varieties.
